RANGE NAME: LEICHHART PATTERN – TESSELLATED TILES
Tessellated floors are formed from tiles of varying size, shape and colour that fit together to produce a geometric repetitive pattern. Our product is suitable for use in both traditional and contemporary settings and we can also reproduce most original patterns.
Vitrified Porcelain – Made in Italy
Vitrified porcelain is obtained from a mix of white clays coloured with pigments. Vitrified porcelain is fired at very high temperatures and therefore is dense with very low water absorption levels. Other properties include good slip resistance (R10 slip rating), frost resistance, chemical resistance and excellent resistance to breakage and abrasion.
Our range of vitrified porcelain is made in Italy and has been sealed in the factory prior to firing as part of the manufacturing process. No further sealing is required after installation. Tile thickness – 7mm.
Usage:
Tessellated tiles can be used in all internal and external residential and commercial applications. Due to the nature of tessellated patterns they offer good slip resistance and can be used in wet areas. R10
Laying Requirements:
It is important to employ a tiler experienced in tessellated tiling as it involves time setting out the pattern correctly, understanding where to start and finish the repeat of the pattern, and how to turn borders correctly around corners.
Tessellated patterns and borders are supplied as loose pieces (not on sheets). This is done to ensure that the product, once laid, is authentic in appearance and aesthetically pleasing. Joint sizes between tile pieces can vary throughout a floor from 1mm to 3mm. This is to accommodate any size variation from tile to tile and allows the tiler to open and close up the joints to ensure patterns and borders work. Always allow for an infill tile to be placed on the outside edge of the border. After centring the main pattern and border the tiler cuts the infill tile to suit.
Tessellated tiles can be laid in a traditional bed of sand and cement or a non-slump glue with a 10mm notched trowel. Your tiler will advise you of which method will suit your project.
Tessellated patterns and borders can be made up in colourways other than those shown.
